If your Network Interface Card (NIC) does not support multicast, AppleTalk services will not work. To see if this is so, follow the correct procedure below:
- For NetMAX 2.x. From the Unix command line, type: "ifconfig -au". On the first line of output there should be a "flags" field, look for "MULTICAST" as one of the flags.
- For NetMAX 3.x - 4.0x. From the command line, type: "ifconfig -a". Find the proper NIC (usually eth0 or eth1), and look at the fourth line down. These are the flags for that interface. See if "MULTICAST" is one of them.
